Lough Key House is a small but beautiful 200 year old Georgian Period house in Boyle, Co. Roscommon, Ireland. It is run by Frances McDonagh who now offers six appealing bedrooms to warmly welcome guests. It is the perfect place from which to tour the North West.
All rooms are individually decorated and furnished with period furniture. Each has it's own almost luxurious bathroom with separate bath and power shower.
Breakfast is a generous buffet of fresh fruits (e.g melon with grapes or strawberries, kiwi, blueberries etc) also stewed fruits (e.g rhubarb, plums, peaches etc). Orange juice is freshly squeezed in our kitchen. We also home bake brown or white soda bread and make our own jams and marmalades. This is followed by a Traditional Irish Breakfast or our House Specialities: Scrambled eggs with smoked salmon or a fresh herb omelette (using lovage & chives). You can of course opt for an old fashioned boiled egg or have them poached.
The eggs are enthusiastically laid by our own hens!
Afternoon tea with home baking is served at 5pm. (check-in time) in the sitting room where a bright open fire welcomes guests. Relax here with lots of books, board games, flat screen TV, and a piano. A laptop with wireless access sits on the writing desk.
Guests may help themselves to tea, herbal teas, and coffee at all times from the dining room side board.
